Dignan retains Red Plate in ACU Trial 125 class.
Scotland's Ben Dignan (Gas Gas) has continued his run of consistency with his fourth win out of the five rounds held so far when he won the Anthony Rew Trial in Devon on Sunday, but by a narrow margin.
It was Brett Harbud (Beta) who led after the opening lap where rain made conditions difficult on the steep wooded hillside at Kelly Farm. Harbud led Dignan by nine marks with eventual third place finisher, Adam Harris (Gas Gas) matching Dignan section by section on the first lap. However, Dignan improved as the day went on in slightly drier conditions and although he set off on the final tour three marks adrift of Harbud, he managed to turn the tables when he completed the opening five sections for just five marks which was enough to give him a three point cushion at the end of the day. Once again, Harris had to settle for third, but the competition in this class is fierce and in a high scoring event compared to previous rounds, just eleven marks separated the three riders at the end of the day.
