Brief update on Day two at Tynemouth.
Following on from his win the previous day, Jack Price (Gas Gas) has extended his lead in the ACU Trial GB class to a comfortable eleven points as the top contenders head off to Japan for the next round of the FIM Trial GP championship this weekend. However, it was not easy for Price as he trailed eventual runner up Dan Peace (Sherco) after two laps of spectacular sections high on the fells at Shaftoe Crags. Jack Peace (Sherco) made it a family affair on the podium with a strong third place, just a single mark behind his brother.
In an even closer finish in the ACU Trial 2 class, Tom Minta (Scorpa) won a tie break from new Championship leader Richard Sadler (Gas Gas) by virtue of more "cleans", whilst 2018 Champion, Ross Danby (TRRS) was just a single mark off the pace with a strong third place finish.
Scotland's Ben Dignan (Gas Gas) has started to edge in front in the ACU Trial 125 class with his third win on the bounce despite a last lap comeback from Brett Harbud (Beta) who posted the best lap score of the day.
Repeating his win on Saturday, Chris Stay (TRRS) made the long journey from the Isle of Wight worthwhile, with Sam Yeomans (Gas Gas) suffering a five mark penalty of the penultimate section to hand the win to his rival. Dan Thorpe (Gas Gas) posted the "perfect" final lap to take the lower step on the podium to keep his title hopes alive.
We will give a more detailed report on all classes starting tomorrow.
