Tynemouth Day one - quick review
In the closest of finishes, Jack Price (Gas Gas) defeated his closest rival, Toby Martyn (Beta) by virtue of one more "dab" after the both tied on 24 marks and the same number of cleans at Shaftoe Crags today. Martyn led after the opening twelve sections, but suffered three failures second time round, before staging a dramatic comeback on the final tour. Jack Peace (Sherco) took the lower step on the podium but six failures left him a long way adrift.
In a relatively low scoring contest, Richard Sadler (Beta) won the ACU Trial 2 class from Sam Connor (Beta) who regained the red plate with second spot, whilst Luke Walker (Sherco) regained form to finish third.
Ben Dignan (Gas Gas) continued his winning run whilst Brett Harbud (Beta) just held of Adam Harris (Gas Gas) by a single mark in the ACU Trial 125 class.
First round winner, Chris Stay (TRRS) was dominate in a low scoring ACU Trial Expert Category to regain the leaders red plate from Dan Thorpe (Gas Gas) who stays in contention, whilst Gwynedd Jones (Beta) made his first visit to the podium this year, in third.
The action continues tomorrow with nine new sections plus three from today which will be the basis for round four.
