Champion Danby strikes back in ACU Trial 2.
Following a defeat in the opening round, Ross Danby (TRRS) won the ACU Trial 2 class at the St David's Trial in a convincing manner and in doing so heads the series after two rounds. In a tough battle for second spot, Returning punch cards of fifteen and eighteen set the reigning Champion up and a brilliant final lap of just seven marks sealed the win.
Gas Gas rider Sam Haslam (pictured) just held off Richard Sadler (Beta) for second spot at the end of thirty six hard fought sections. Sadler was particularly pleased with his result having moved up from the ACU Trial Expert class in 2019 which also includes the change of marque to Beta.
Riding with the Championship Leaders Red Plate, Sam Connor (Beta) fought back from a poor ninth position after the first lap to eventually take fourth, but now trails Danby by four points as the series heads off to a double header at Tynemouth on June 1st.
James Fry (Sherco) was pipped into fifth position by virtue of Connor's late challenge, whilst 2018 125 champion,Mitchell Brightmore (Gas Gas) showed his real potential with sixth place, just ahead of Dec Bullock who was also Gas Gas mounted.
Irish Champion Josh Hanlon (Beta), Luke Walker (Sherco) and Oliver Smith (Gas Gas) completed the top ten.
