Another Price at the top.
TRRS rider Lloyd Price took the ACU Trial Expert Class win at the St David's and with it gained the coveted Point-S Red Plate as Series Leader. A brilliant second lap, completing the twelve sections for zero marks lost set up the win for the rider from Maesteg, but it was Britain's own World Ladies Champion, Emma Bristow (Sherco) who set the Welsh hills buzzing after she led the thirty odd strong field on the opening lap. A second lap failure in the easier section seven was costly for Queen Emma, but at the end of the day she sighted a "slack dab" in the penultimate section of the day as her downfall. Dan Thorpe (Gas Gas) maintained his challenge for series honours and was leading with just three sections remaining, but the Big Gulley literally stopped him in his tracks.
There is now a three way tie at the top of the standings with Price, Thorpe and first round winner Chris Stay (TRRS) all sharing thirty points after Stay only finished sixth, recovering from a poor first lap, which included two maximums.
Gwynedd Jones (Beta) came out best of a tie break for fourth from Sam Yeomans who recorded three consistent laps of five each time round to stay in front of Stay, whilst Ben Morphett (Montesa), Charlie Smith (Beta), Tom Culliford (TRRS) and Jersey visitor Richard Pallot (Beta) completed the top ten.
Whilst the action now moves to the North East in ten days time, a review of the ACU Trial 2 Class will be on this site tomorrow.
