Shaftoe Crags - Round 3 and 4 details revealed.
Following a visit to the venue last week, we can now reveal details of rounds three and four which will take place in the North East of the country on the 1st & 2nd June. Shaftoe Crags (Postcode NE61 4EA) will not be familiar with some riders from outside of the local area, so here is a short run down.
With an easy access road onto a flat parking field it would be easy to ask "So where are the sections"? However, a short walk through a gate and onto the open Fells an abundance of rocks and crag faces soon appear. Clerk of the Course, Paul Battensby (pictured) has planned approx. twenty sections for the two rounds, with most being accessible to the start area, although a ten minute walk will be required for the distant ones across the fell on an anti clockwise route. Mid way round, the lap will be broken by a steep wooded hillside, where two/ three sections are planned for each day before returning to the final group situated very near to the planned Warm Up Area.
Entries are now open on the Ride ACU website in the normal manner. For ease, one simple entry will suffice for both days, but any rider just able to ride a single day, this option is also available.
Entries for this event close on the 22nd May, which is only just after round two, the St David's Trial on May 19th.
