Bad weather - second time round.
In even worst conditions than Saturday, round three which took place on the bleak moorland course in Devon today was hit by constant rain which started to fall when the first competitor was called to the start line at 9.30am.
However, the hard working Torridge MCC officials stuck to the job in hand until six sections on the final laps had to be cancelled for safety reasons when the river rose rapidly, rendering it unsafe.
However, Ross Danby (TRRS) displayed a master class in the slippery conditions to hoist himself right back into the Trial 2 championship by taking the win by a massive sixteen marks from Richard Sadler (Gas Gas) who returned his best result of the season to date. Overnight red plate holder, Andrew Chiltern finished third.
In the strong battle for honours in the ACU Trial Expert class, Dan Thorpe (Gas Gas) recovered from a poor first lap to bounce back to take a comfortable win from his main championship rival, Sam Yeomans (Vertigo), who got the tie break nod from Tom Affleck (Sherco) who made a bold last lap attempt to grasp the second step on the podium.
Meanwhile, Jack Dance (Gas Gas) continued his run of wins to take the ACU Trial 125 class win which was sealed on the final lap with a miserly two mark lost. Harry Hemingway (Beta) was equally comfortable for second, whilst Harry Turner (Gas Gas) slotted into third.
Iwan Roberts (TRRS) continued his main class campaign which has set him up for his first adult British Title.
We will gave a class by class update on each day this week.
