Dabill, Connor, Yeomans and Dance win opener
With a masterly display of control, James Dabill (Beta) scored a convincing win in the opening round of the year at Hookwood earlier today.
Whilst Dabill had a convincing twenty two marks advantage at the end of three gruelling laps,, local hero, Sam Connor (Beta) snatched a last lap victory over current Champion, Ross Danby (TRRS) in the ACU Trial 2 Class.
However, it was tight at the top of the large Expert entry with just two marks separating the top four. Setting an early pace on the opening lap, Sam Yeomans (Vertigo) kept his slender lead to take the win from Lloyd Price (Gas Gas) who shed two marks on time.
Riding the same route as the Experts, Jack Dance (Gas Gas) had a comfortable margin in the ACU Trial 125 Class, from Harry Hemingway (Beta) and Harry Turner (Gas Gas).
Dabill's victory was effectively secured on the second lap of the event when he cast just eleven marks over the slippery twelve section course, which was less than half the score of the chasing pack. Eventually, Toby Martyn (TRRS) was confirmed in second place with Dan Peace (Sherco) taking the third step on the podium.
We will look at each class in more detail in the next four days, starting with the ACU Trial 125 class tomorrow.
