Martyn wins Trial - Price takes crown
A second place finish was enough to give Jack Price (Gas Gas) his second British title in three years at a very windy Bob McGregor Trial which was held today at Dunlop in Scotland. Martyn was never headed in the three lap encounter on the grippy rocks which made up the twelve section course which had to be covered three times. Two failures on the second lap put Price out of contention for the win, but by ensuring he beat Dan Peace (Sherco), who finished third, was enough to secure the title.
Ross Danby (TRRS) fought back from a poor start to snatch the ACU Trial 2 class win from Tom Minta (Scorpa) whilst his main rivals, Richard Sadler (Gas Gas) and Sam Connor (Beta) finished third and fourth.
Red Plate holder, Chris Stay (TRRS) and Dan Thorpe (Gas Gas) dominated the ACU Trial Expert Class and were separated by just a single mark after a score recount. Lloyd Price (Beta) finished third as the two main rivals will continue their battle over a revised course on Sunday.
Riding with a foot injury, Ben Dignan (Gas Gas) continued his winning ways in the ACU Trial 2 Class but Adam Harris made him fight all the way.
The action continues with round nine at 9.30am tomorrow.
