Peace Brothers on top in ACU Trial GB Class
After trying all season, Dan and Jack Peace (Shercos) made it a family one two in the ACU Trial GB class at Troutbeck on Sunday. Taking wins in the previous four rounds, Jack Price (Gas Gas) had to settle for third after a tense three way battle over the fells of Cumbria in warm sunshine. Avoiding five mark penalties was vital, with all three podium placed riders just incurring two each throughout the day and it was the steep rock slab of the final hazard which caused the most trouble.
It was Jack (pictured) who led at the end of the first lap with a loss of nine, one in front of brother Dan, who in turn was a further mark ahead of Price. Dan edged in front by two marks on lap two, partially thanks to a two mark loss on the final section which both Price and fifth placed Iwan Roberts (TRRS) recorded superb cleans on the last lap.
Choosing to ride without an Assistant, Andy Chilton (Scorpa) kept in close contact in sixth, a mere three marks behind Roberts with Billy Green (Montesa) and Hugo Jervis (TRRS) completing the leader board.
Martyn's demise came early on with double failures in sections four and five on lap one which has now allowed Price to open up a healthy sixteen point lead in the series with just three rounds remaining.
