First win for Yeomans
Having stood on the podium in the last two rounds, Sam Yeomans (Gas Gas) finally made it to the top step in the ACU Trial Expert Class at the Lakes Trial which formed round six yesterday. Taking place high above the picturesque village of Troutbeck, Yeomans took control during the second of three laps which he completed for a single mark loss and maintained control right to the finish to take the win by an amazing ten marks from Dan Thorpe (Gas Gas). Yeomans kept all his losses to single dabs which was the key to his success with all his rivals suffering at least one maximum during the day. Thorpe now moves to within one point of Class Leader, Chris Stay (TRRS) who finished fourth, just missing out on a podium position by a single mark from Gwynedd Jones (Beta). Thorpe suffered two maximums on the final lap of twelve sections but had enough in hand to claim the runner up spot and the seventeen points allocated.
Emma Bristow (Sherco) kept the boys on their toes with another strong ride to take fifth just ahead of Aldis Blacker (Gas Gas) who recorded his highest finish this season. Only one mark separated James Hayhurst (Sherco), Sean Doyle (Scorpa) and William Brockbank (Sherco) for seventh, eighth and ninth, with Charlie Smith completed his 100% point scoring record this season in tenth.
We will take a closer look at the ACU Trial 2 Class tomorrow as the riders look forward to the next round at Brimham Rocks next Sunday.
