More rider profiles - Dan Thorpe.

With a six week break until the Westmorland event, it is a good time to continue with our series of Rider Profiles and today we look at ACU GB Expert contender Dan Thorpe.
At the ripe age of forty, Dan still keeps his enthusiasm for Trials which very few can maintain. He has been on the podium at all of the five ACU Trial GB rounds held to date this year and has to be considered one of three title contenders when the series ends in early October.
Maintaining his long term relationship with Gas Gas UK, Dan also lists S3 Parts, Mots, Putoline, Michelin, Stylemartin, Renthal, Splatshop, Boyeson and Twin Air as his personal sponsors. Of course, Trials is a seven days a week occupation for "Thorpey" as he is employed by the longstanding BUMPY organisation which coaches budding Trials riders in addition to alternative programmes and other ancillary motorcycle courses.
In a career spanning thirty years, Dan remembers his first major win - the National West of England Trial back in 1996 as a memorable moment in his career, but he can boasts a vast amount of other National wins along the way in addition to his Yorkshire and East Midland Centre Expert titles he has achieved.
Dan didn't quite achieve his top ten finish target in this year's SSDT, but his aim for the remainder of the year is uncompromising, to win the Expert Class in ACU Trial GB and first in the S3 Championship and any event he enters and a top ten finish in the Scott.
Coming from a Trials background, it must be remembered that father Dave won two World Championship rounds in 1975 after a European Championship win two years earlier. Dan revels in all types of sections, but admits to liking rocky streams, slippery banks and good old mud!
His favourite world rider coming from Yorkshire is easy - Doug Lampkin, whilst Steve Colley joins father Dave as his British favourite.
The Thorpe dynasty is likely to continue for several seasons yet!
